Holden Beach, NC my daughter is playing in a pool that trapped a pair of minnows. My son is behind playing in the softer sand, my wife is going back to the house to get us beers.

We spent Saturday in the smokey mountains hiked a bit, also visited Clingmans Dome on the way to NC Sunday.

I’m here with some of my dads family their friends, about 40 of us in a big house for the week.

It was Gatllinburg in mid July,

I have done those big-family-in-a-house-at-the-beach trips. They’re awesome. Have fun.

I had to read that a couple times to process that you have 40 people in a house. We had to stop vacationing with extended family because nobody could ever get on the same schedule or agree on anything (food, stuff to do, etc). Clingman’s Dome is pretty awesome. We were just there about 6 months ago in the freezing cold :D

For this group it’s every 3 years, and this is the 3rd time. My cousins keep having kids so there are about 10 or more kids under 10 here.

Clingmans dome was amazing even though it was about 40°F and so cloudy visibility was around 100'. My kids walked the whole way.

Probably our last time on this big vacation. I want to go to CA & Moab with my family.

Pretty cold, put my feet in on our morning beach walk. I’ll get in when it’s in upper 80's latter this week. There is a heated pool which is just as good.

I looked it up and las shark bits were in 13 & 11, so this beach is due. My wife won't get in past her toes.

Same here, but with kids at just 6 and 3, cross-country plane trips and long car rides are very taxing. If I could just magically transport everyone to Yosemite Valley for a week, I'd be good :D

5.5 & 3.5, so I'm in same boat. That's why we broke up the trip to TN a couple days then here. The ride back we hope they are wore out from the week and push it.

Many moons ago, my grandparents built a house on the ocean front there, circa 1982. I have a lot of fond memories of being there as a kid. I think they sold it just before 2000, before properties on the ocean front were commanding 7 figure values.

I too was in the NC mountains Saturday. There was a huge vintage BMW show near Asheville.

I am going to write a little something about it tomorrow but on our way to NC we cut through the Pisgah National forest and the road was AMAZING. A MK4 R32 & I believe a 2.5RS were behind us and I left my sister in a f150 loaded then later I see the other 2 cars on my ass, so I put the mini van through the paces. I did eventually pull over and they zoomed by.

Good stuff. Too bad it was further East. Plus I didn’t know about it. I do remember this place on the way between the Smokey’s and Pisgah.

You were very close to Wheels Through Time, a pretty well known motorcycle museum. Also, you were like 15 minutes from NC-215. NC-215 is awesome.

I did see the sign for wheels through time. We just didn’t have time & my sister & boyfriend and his brother & fiance were following. We got to the beach around 9:45 so any more stops and it would have been really late.

I keep it in mind for when we come back. My wife wants to hike the Application trail. So our next vacation may be down there for a week.
